Chevy's New Nascar Car

Since we have the threads about the new Ford and the new Dodge that Nascar will be running, we haven't heard much about the new Chevy.
That's because Chevy is keeping it under wraps for right now!!!
That's VERY interesting. Looks like we will be getting a BRAND NEW Chevy!!! ![EEK!](https://montecarloforum.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Since this is a Monte forum, you have to HOPE it's a Monte again... but I doubt it.
But this means we might see the Caprice finally make its way from Police Car only to a Civilian car too. That will be fantastic for Chevy! We all loved the G8, will be nice to have a car like it again, with a bowtie!

Chevrolet is developing a new car with a new name for its 2013 NASCAR entry, replacing the Impala used by Team Chevy, and plans to eventually market and sell the new model to consumers.
The dealership and racing versions of the car will be unveiled this year, after the New York auto show in April, spokesman Monte Doran said. The new car will use a nameplate not currently in Chevy's lineup. Neither the car nor its name will be a derivative of another model in Chevy showrooms, such as the new Malibu or the upcoming redesigned Impala, Doran said. General Motors wouldn't reveal details.

Chevrolet to replace Impala in NASCAR for 2013, new production model hinted

According to Chevrolet, the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will kick off without an Impala on the starting grid. That's news itself, considering how intertwined the Impala is with Chevy's NASCAR presence, earning 70 wins since 2007.
Even more intriguing, though, is that Chevy says it "will be racing a vehicle based on a new nameplate to the brand's lineup." That means the 2013 racer won't be a Malibu or Cruze. Whatever it may be, Chevrolet says that both the race version and the production version will be debuted "in the coming year."
As far as speculation goes, it's hard not to point a finger in the direction of the Chevrolet Caprice, which is currently available in the United States for police duty only. Will everyday consumers finally get another crack at a high-performance rear-wheel-drive Chevy sports sedan? If so, what will it be called, and will it wear the coveted SS nomenclature?
We have no idea. What we do know, however, is that Jim Campbell, vice president of Chevrolet Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, says the automaker is testing camouflaged vehicles and that the production version will be "just like" the race car. We'll just have to wait and see about that... In the meantime, see the complete press release below.

I honestly undersand the whole FWD deal with chevy, they are just going with what MOST consumers want these days.
I hope they never come out with a new monte personally
And its because im not a fan of many of the new chevys these days, they are making the grill HUGE and i dont want them to F up the monte into a horrible car.

Would be nice to have the caprice become civilian. The number of traditional V8 RWD cars on the market is very small. but i suppose the demand is small too. Im excited to see what they use

Ahem ... who else actually read &/or noticed the wording in Ch#$r%*et's press release?
The press release states that it will be "a NEW NAMEPLATE to the BRAND'S LINEUP" ... which means ... it CANNOT be a Caprice, Chevelle, Monte Carlo or Camaro, since all of those are old heritage nameplates!
