The reasons that I didn't like Beast Machines was this:

1) The design of the Maximals (purely opinion though, I realize)
2) Megatron didn't do much until the very end. I would have liked to see more action from him instead of the drones
3) Rhinox goes bad. Way off base for his character
4) The way the Maximals transform (thus the nickname "Mighty Morphin Maximals")

BM was interesting though because you get to see what happens to the characters from BW when they return to Cybertron. And yes in the end Megatron and Optimus Primal (remained Primal throughout the "Beast" saga) fall to their death and Cheetor succeeds Optimus as leader of the Maximals.

I am curious though about people's opinion on TF: Prime. I find it fascinating how Megatron is pure evil. Very interesting character. Yet, Optimus Prime remains my favorite character in this series.

I'm a huge G1 fan of Transformers. I grew up with it! Heck, I keep talking about wanting a ghost-effect Decepticon logo on my Camaro when I get that project finished.

Now, two things I think any G1 fan should know:
1. - What is Optimus Prime's real name?
2. - What is the Universal Greeting (I cheated and used it above, but you best know where it was introduced)?

And for other G1 fans, ever notice the inconsistancies in this orgins of Megatron and the Constructicons?
- Megatron was built by the Constructicons to lead the Decepticons.
- The Decpticons built the Constructicons on Earth to build things.
- The Constructicons were friends with Omega Supreme on Cybertron and Megatron reprogrammed them.

Sorry, I am a BIG Transformer fan! The new live-action movies are nice, but I still love the animated movie from '86 more!

I know the Universal greeting. I bought a t-shirt featuring it from 80stees.com. I jumped on the awswer without thinking it thorough! The universal greeting was first used on Quintesson with Kup introducing it and HodRod using it with the Sharkticons. Sorry for my last uneducated retard answer!

 

Pending you did not Google the Prime question, great job! Few people I meet who claim to be big G1 fans hardly remember the Universal Greeting. And NO one got the Orion Pax question (one person came close, he could vividly describe the episode).

I've watched some of these shows as an adult and it's a miracle they captivated so many kids with such poor plot design. But, let's face it, the characters were freakin' cool!

Out of all the toys (which mine are in the garage), I never had any of the three Jets (Starscream, Skywarp or Thundercrack). While we were dating my wife found and bought me a re-manufactured dual pack of Skywarp and Thundercrack under the Takra label and later the re-manned Starscream (both sitting ontop of my computer hutch).

In the office where I work, I have Optimash Prime (the Mr. Potato Head Optimus Prime).

No google or I would have got the spelling. I feel stupid for the irish spelling "O'ryan" - that funny - makes more sense your way! I remember the whole Airelebot episode vividly...

1. What are the names of human Daniel's parents? His grandfather?
2. Which Dinobot, of the original 5, was not in the origanal 1986 movie? Can you name all 5?

 

I'm absolutely no good when it comes to G1 so I won't be able to answer your questions JuniorCar, sorry. I did know what Optimus' real name was though, but that's only because I had a cousin tell me that a long time ago. This new TF Prime show is starting to get me to want to watch the original G1 shows, so I will probably buy those on DVD soon and also watch them on the Hub.

To all the G1 fans, have you watched Beast Wars? If you have, what were your thoughts on that series?

 

#1 - Daniel's parents are Spike and Carley. His Grandfather would then be Spark Plug.
#2 - I'll name them all and try to even identify what dinosaur they were modeled after (don't hold me to spelling).
Grimlock - T-Rex
Sludge - Brontosaurus
Swoop - pteridatal
Slag - Stegasaurus
Snarl - Triceritops
I believe the one not to appear in the movie was Slag (the Stegasaurus). The Stegasaurus was hardly EVER played and I don't know why. There were first three Dinobots, the Stegasaurus and Pteridatal were two new Dinobots introduced a couple episodes after the first three Dinobots were introduced.

Now, the funny part is, even though the Dinobots are fairly simple minded, Wheeljack and Rachet apparently succeeded in making them "sentiant" (and Megatron did the same with the Constructicons depending which Constructicon origin you subscribe to), which later episodes required a trip to VectorSigma to give Transformers life.... Enter the origin of the Stunticons vs the Aerialbots.

 

Very close on question #2. But you are confusing 2 Dinobots: Snarl was the Stegasaurus and Slag was the Triceritops. It was the Stegasaurus, Snarl, who did not appear in the movie.
