Default 96 monte carlo 3.1, help!!

I have a 1996 monte carlo 3.1 that i bought from a friend, the motor had gone bad at around 100k and he replaced it with a motor with around 70k on it. at first the car ran great with only a slight jump into 2nd gear so i knew eventually i'd have to take it in for tras work but i was okay with that. i've since put 30k on the new motor. i had my catylic converter cut off my car while i was working, i replaced it with a magna flow direct fit converter as well as replaced the post converter o2 sensor. after that was installed it threw the code for multiple cylinder misfire, so i replaced wires plugs air and fuel filter and TPS. the codes went away problem solved, nope i drive four miles and the volt light comes on and the engine seems to go to a neutral state and revs while driving ultimatly losing to the electrical going down. does not matter how fast or slow im going the problem presists. the battery is good the alternater is good, any ideas???
