60k Guess its time for my first oil change...
Yeah that was probably a bad idea.... he's going to pay good for that mistake.
My dad worked for Cavalier Ford back in about '79-82 or so and they had a construction company bring in a '77 pick up truck with a bad knock in the engine and running kind of crappy to see what the problem was. My dad got the assignment. When he checked the oil, it was kind of sludgy, and when he pulled hte oil pan, nothing happened. It turns out, this truck had gone 80,000 miles with no oil change. The construction company just poured a can of STP in it every few days to stop the knocking and it had gummed up that bad. My dad says hwen he pulled the oil pan down, the oil was like jell in hte thing. The oil passages from the valve train to the crank case were nearly stopped completly up with sludge.... he had to tear down the engine to a bare block with no pistons or cam or anything at all to redo the entire thing!!!

OMG thats horrible, strangely i've seen an engine that looked like that, it was a 4cyl 80something POS mustang that some kid brought into tech. they pulled the drainplug and NOT A DROP came out... pulled the pan, and the oil was pretty much a solid mass stuck to the bottem of the engine! and it smelled awfull!
i have another funny story.
a coupla days ago, my dad's boss decided he would do an oil change on his wifes audi. simple, right? WRONG! he accidentaly removed the transmission drain plug ( i guess its an audi thing?) and dumped the ATF everywhere. after the inital WTF factor, the boss finished the oil change, and wanted to get the trans fluid filled. only one problem-- there is NO WAY to fill the trans! and the pan? NOT removable! turns out the audi takes only special eurotrashmobile ATF crap that costs like $60 a LITRE! and the trans needs something like 7 litres! and it gets better. turns out, the trans can ONLY be filled at the dealership, using some eurotrashmobile computer trans service macheine thing! so guess how much it costs to have the trans serviced? over $5,000!!!!!!! and they need the car for 3 days, at least! and it cannot be driven to the dealership caus it has no trans fluid, so they need a tow, and its schedualed sometime next week. so 11 days to rent a car and a tow costs can be added on top of it all!
its like a real life virsion of the "oil changes" joke 'ive posted a couplea times on here
1case oil: $12
1 oil filter: $3
7 litres stupied eurotrashmobile ATF crap: $420+
3 days at the dealership hooked to the eurotrashmobile trans service computer thingamajig: $5,000+
tow to the dealership: $120
11 days car rental: $660
TOTAL: $6215!
knowing the job was done "Right"--- Priceless

yha, im not into audis, BMW's are ok. the repair costs are insane on those cars, luckaly my dad's boss is quite well off ( he also owns some fancy shopping mall place in NJ and a couple other places). i know he bought the audi a coupla years back, and PAIED IN FULL so a $6k repair bill is no problem for him. his kids also drive a porche SUV, a mercadies SUV and a land rover SUV, which get wrecked on a regular basis. hes more pissed that his trying to do something nice for the wife backfired so royally though, lol. "ouch, my pride" lol
