<!--leftside ends here -->It may not get enthusiast pulses elevated as much as the Ford Mustang Boss 302 or Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, but it has generated a lot of interest nonetheless. Yes, it’s the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. General Motors is predicting such strong demand for the new model, that it has announced a third shift at its Oshawa, Ontario production facility where the Impala is built.
In addition to the third shift on the Flexible manufacturing line, a previously-scheduled shift addition on the Consolidated line will be extended until June 2014. The St. Catherines Powertrain facility will also add a third shift to support production of six-speed automatic transmissions for the 2014 Impala, the only transmission option for Chevrolet’s full-size sedan.
GM’s widely-used 3.6-liter direct-injected V-6 is the only engine that carries over on the 2014 Impala. The two other engine options on the 2014 Impala are a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and the 2.4-liter with eAssist. The formerly-available 303-hp 5.3-liter LS4 V-8 offered in the SS model has been dropped. There are no announced plans for a SS trim level on the 2014 Impala, likely because a dedicated, stand-alone SS model is coming in 2014, a revival of the late Pontiac G8′s rear-drive Zeta platform, incorporating some of the updates the Holden Commodore sedan recently received.

Not a fan. Honestly the last Impala I really actually liked was the 90s ones the 2000-05 generation i really hated for awhile but they grew on me a bit and the ones after that eh. I think its because everyone seems to have one around here just like grand prixs.

Maybe they're not making an SS trim on the Impala so they can focus on making "SS" a model name instead of a trim line? Probably not. But I'd rather the Impala have an SS trim line. And call their new Chevrolet SS something else. I'd say call it the Chevrolet GT, but that would be too close of a rip off of the Ford GT.
The Impala needs a V8 SS model to compete with the Charger.
