Default 2000-2007 All one generation.

Does anyone know where it may say that the 2000-2007 generation Monte Carlos are all technically a 6th generation by General Motors?

I know we call them different generations here at the forum to clear up confusion, but I also know that isn't how General Motors classified the generations.

Also, there are two different generations of w-bodies, 3rd gen is the 06/07 montes and 2nd gen is 2000-05. But they both have the same wheelbase, so I don't understand the difference, except for the minor exterior and interior changes and of course the change of engines.

I just tried doing a quick search and it seems like everyone is considering 06-07 "7th gen"... I found a few sites though:

Chevrolet (U.S.) Monte Carlo 6gen versions, models & types in the catalog of cars

The History of the Monte Carlo | eHow.com

Edit: Not really proving that it is a 6th or 7th just mentions that its a 6th generation... A trip or phone call to the dealer maybe can clear it up...

Yes the 3.9L was only for 2006.

I know we separate the 2006-07's into their own generation on here for a reason. I have always gone off of the National Monte Carlo Owners Association's view on this topic. They see six generations, the 6th being 2000-2007.
