Default Ebay fees are outrageous

They keep it up and they will be out of business. I hope Craigslist doesn't start the fee thing. I sold those door hinges for $400 and it cost me like 10% to ebay plus the paypal fees. Between the SS headrests and hinges, I now owe ERape $50. I am about to quit with ebay but when you have a select audience for your product, Craigslist just can't compete. So we are stuck with Ebay. They aren't happy enough just to get final value fees, they even charge you on the shipping amount to get a % of that. Looks to be like 9% of everything plus picture and listing fees.
OK, my rant for the day.

Hi `Jerry, Every time I get a chance to get out in the World I'm finding the prices of just about everything is outrageous 4-Sure...

I guess it's all supply & demand, or the one that has the best game in town or on the net...I'm now saying what my grandfather has said "The dollar doesn't buy what it use 2"~>4-Real... I'm making more $'s, but it sure isn't buying as much 4-Sure.....

I'm happy that you were able to sell your stuff & some $ is better then none , but it sure sucks to have to pay a big percentage of your profits... Life just isn't `free & it cost to live & survive....I guess it's still better then not being here @ `all...What are we doing here ? LOL ~>
I'm just filling `up space (I don't know why) Maybe because I've drank a gallon of high octane coffee all night & morning...Can't you tell by all my crazy coffee posts/thread....LOL

Be Happy 2`be & EnJoy the NASCAR Race 2day...4-Sure....Oh, and the Human Race to Survive !!!! 2

I've bought stuff off ebay but never sold anything on there. So I wouldn't know what the fees look like. I don't buy things off there very often though, only things I can't get locally for as cheap or cheaper.

I hate the fees.. Usually I try to sell stuff for just a little more than I'm expecting to get just to cover the fees but still it is outrageous IMO.

Yep, their fees are getting outrageous alright. I sold one of my guitars a few months ago and between eBay & PayPal wound up paying a shade over $200 in fees. The actions of a few is why they include shipping cost in the final value fee. As example, someone would list an item valued at $50 for $5 then charge $55 for shipping. They only paid a (low) final value fee on $5, spent $5 to ship the item and still made their $50+. eBay caught on to what these people were doing, so now we all pay a final value fee on the auction price and shipping combined. What eBay needs is some good stiff competition that uses the same format. Right now they are the only player in the game, so they can pretty much set the rules. The only option we are left with is not to play the game if we don't like the rules.

I used Ebay a couple of years ago as a seller and absolutely hated the fees that paypal took. If I can remember correctly, arent they like merged or the same company?
