Our spy photographers managed to capture a 2013 DB9 coupe while undergoing testing with only minimal camouflage. So successful were they in getting pictures of the exterior, they decided to sneak a peek inside at the car’s completely undisguised cabin and dashboard – surprising two Aston engineers ensconced within.

A DB9 With a Twist.
Leaner and edgier, the 2013 DB9 Coupe has given up some curves for a few more chiseled angles here and there. The major changes are confined to the front of the car, where a revised front fascia includes a larger lower air intake and tiny flares at either end. The front grilles appear to have been fitted with black mesh inserts – though it remains to be seen whether or not this design detail is intended for production models. Aston has also repositioned the side mirrors, moving them from the side windows onto the doors.

It’s hard to imagine Aston giving the DB9 a rework without focusing some attention on the mechanicals. We’ve no qualms with the silky smooth delivery of the 470-bhp 5.9-liter V-12, except the competition has raised the stakes in terms of performance and engine output. Aston could stand up its game here, especially against lower priced competitors like the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz SL550, by raising output to somewhere in the region of 500 horsepower.

While it’s highly unlikely, we sure wouldn’t mind seeing the return of a manual transmission. The current DB9 routes power to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox, the manual ‘box having been dropped from the lineup last year due to lack of customer demand.
Look for the 2013 Aston Martin DB9 to go on sale later this year.

Its a nice car. Its a nice car that's gonna get spanked by the Camaro ZL1 or a Mustang Shelby 1000 tho. The ZL1 only one that I can even dream up enough money to buy.
I wonder if they're going to roll one of these in the next Bond flick...
