Jay Leno's Garage: 2013 SRT Viper GTS
Jay Leno had the pleasure of being the first civilian to drive the new 2013 SRT Viper GTS in the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. Beth Paretta and Mark Trostle were also on hand to offer a few more details on the one, the only, the pinnacle Viper pilot car, and the star of the new SRT lineup.
Leno’s review includes a side-by-side look at Vipers throughout the years, and he gets under the hood of the only new one in existence! So, what do you think: was he pleased with the new Viper, or does he still prefer the older generations? Watch the video and find out!
As a reminder, the new Viper is powered by a new 8.4-liter all-aluminum, V-10 overhead-valve engine that will deliver a total of 640 HP and 600 lb-ft of torque. The new engine is mated to an improved Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission.

I'd buy one because you dont see may of them around my area. I would have issues driving it on the streets here tho. Some of them are pretty rough

"Our mission for the gen-five Viper was to build the best Viper yet."
Those words pretty much sum up the seven videos we've embedded after the break. Of course, a whole heck of a lot of engineering went into realizing that mission, and the team from SRT is justifiably proud of what they have been able to accomplish.
From the evocative curves of the body to the subtle changes to the 8.4-liter V10 that were necessary to net 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, Chrysler turned the cameras on its own staff to show just how the 2013 SRT Viper went from the drawing board to an actual vehicle.
