Default swapping out 3400 to 3800 sc

hey guys im new here i have a 2001 monte ls 3400, i got a 3800 sc drop out from a 2004 monte. i dropped the new motor, trans, wiring harness, and pcm into my car. now i have a no crank situation. i can jump the starter and it cranks and starts for a few seconds and shuts right off. but still no crank when i turn the key. i was told that i shouldnt have to have the new pcm programmed being that i am using the same wiring harness. if anyone has any advice it would be very much appreciated.

You're using the 3400 wiring harness? You should be using the L67 harness. What PCM are you using?

I'm using the 04 wiring harness with the 04 Pcm. I've looked at wiring diagrams for both 01 and 04 and they are both the same pins and everything.

I thought the PCM had to be programmed to the VIN of the car in order for it to work. I wonder if its not a "security" situation.

I'm thinking it is a security problem but the light is not blinking or anything but I did the whole set up of turning the key on and leaving it on for 15+ mins still nothing.

it is a security issue i can almost guarantee it. you need to do a security key learn and i bet it will fire up after doing this.
