Default Steering Wheel Audio Control

Help! I have a 1997 Z34. The "SEEK" button on my steering wheel has never worked. (I'm the 2nd owner) Up till now It never really bothered me. Recently I replaced the radio/cd unit. Not wanting to lose the convenience of the steering wheel audio control (mainly the volume control & the mute) I purchased the adapter. Unfortunately, it didn't work because of the malfunctioning button. I really would like to have use of the steering wheel controls. Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to rectify the problem. If it's an aftermarket replacement part I can purchase, please let me know.
Thanks

I believe you can pop out that button piece with a small flat blade screw driver and pop another switch in. Check it out at the junkyard first. I think I have one here, but it's from a GP so it's grey, not black.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the tip. I'm gonna give it a try & let you know how it works out. According to my son, he says that the spring is off or tilted, so if it's pressed at anytime, it just keeps going & going, cause the spring is not working for the button to bounce back in place. Or something like that. Hopefully your suggestion will work & I can get the spring back in place. Again, thanks.
