Second Monte an new to the Forum Family!
Hey all!
My name is Paul, but most call me "Mutt" (don't ask).
I used to own an '86 Monte Carlo, an it was just a great second getting-around-car when I got back from active service.
Well, had the opportunity last week to get another one, this time a 2000 Monte LS in Torch Red. Man, after taking a clay bar to it an a couple coats of wax, I can definately see tickets in my future!
Great car, though the miles were kinda high. 173k, but runs like a purring kitten, everything works, nothing leaks, an the only problems I've gotten is a bad sending unit from the tank, which of course means I've no idea how much fuel I have left. Already ordered the part, an thank gods that the 2000-2004 models have an access in the trunk rather than having the tank pulled at a shop. $30-ish bucks, an about an hour of time, I'm thinking. The only other problem was a Low Tire Pressure notice on the message center. A quick look into this same issue in these forums an have it reset now, after having made sure my tires were indeed properly inflated.
Motor is smooth, transmission shifts with narry a problem, hells, the dash isn't even sun-cracked an was extremely clean when I got it. Title says only two owners before me. Got a GREAT deal on the Monte, at $1,800.00 I almost felt guilty like I stole it from the seller. (But not SO guilty that it's not sitting in my driveway this moment! )
I will post pics soon, as it's 11pm an raining as I write this, so a bit too dark with my craptacular camera, but will update.
Already I've been reading TONS of threads in here an have utilized many suggestions. A great wealth of information I'm sure to be coming back to again an again. Thanks for letting me be a part of this great forum!
