Replace trans or do away with monte?
With mom and pop shopz, trying to bs with them is even more telltale than chain shops. Case in point, im a shade tree myself. I offer a lifetime labor garrantee on labor on everything i do. The only way void it is to undo one bolt or screw i install. I love to bs with customerz. First thing after talking to the shop is try to walk into the work area. Them noot letting is not dealbreaker, how they react is. If they actat like an ***, find another shop. If they let you or politely ask you to stay outta the shop, GOLD.

@ ZIPPY02, l67ss Thanks for responding,
I have had NO troubles with my suga plum...this is my second Monte and yes the 06 trans went as well. But AAmco overcharged me so i won't go back to them(another state). Then it was totaled out. i think I'm going to find a mom and pop place for a rebuild price. Mr. Transmission was offering a 3.5 yr warranty and they are USA wide.

Youre not in va beach are ya? Went there in 01 and last year, didnt wanna leave. Saw plenty of potential future mrs ryan thompsons there

@zippy02 Yes I'm online now searching. Its like a flip of a coin. First thing tomorrow I am going to Autozone and Advance auto. Yeah I'm in Virginia in the Air force. I'm in the medical field. Chevy calls me all the time wanting my car...they only way I'm giving that one up is when they come back out with the new SS. My dad went to a NASCAR race last year when he seen the model of the potential 2014 or 2015 Monte.
I like L67SS's advice to, the local parts shops could point you in the right direction.
Hey hey a SS model would be B.A. to have, I will be so jealous of you. Have read a lot of good reviews about that platform. Be to fun and exciting to have one of them for sure.

A Zoomie in a medical slot. What a way to skate through the military... LOL jk, I used to watch infantry medics in the field, hump their ruck and then a second full medical kit. But the good thing back in the rear they were always exempt from additional duties. Looks like your playing your cards right. create yourself a future by using Uncle Sam's Jam as a spring board into it.

Could also pay the shop a visit and talk to them, get a feel for their professionalism and if you get a sense of a problem.
As for the parts, when they do a rebuild, you could ask for the old parts (to validate what they changed). Just some thoughts.
BTW - I don't know if you mentioned where you are currently located at.
Good pointer. X2 on asking to see/have the old parts. If youre worried bout them getting butthurt play it off as curiosity as to what failed

Try to find out if you know anyone that used that shop. Or as mentioned, check with some local parts stores. You can also see if they are part of organizations like the Better Business Bureau, Google there name and see if anything pops up. A bunch of ways to try and get a feel for their reputation.

that bothers me, i was gonna go to aamco for my tranny rebuild, i will say my gf went to a certain one and when we got it back it came with a year warranty and everything was fixed but i guess because of their location it had ants all in the car when it was sitting. like the car became infested with ants. i was gonna take mines to a different one, but now im second guessing it...
