Default Pardon me, I'm new here....just checking in.

Hello to all, thought I'd follow the suggestions and stop in to introduce myself. Craig is the name, I'm in Central Ohio and just a couple of weeks ago made a heck of a deal on a 2004 Monte Carlo LS. It is decently equipped with factory features but could use a few more.

I am thinking I will tackle the DIC addition as a first item of business. Then probably some fog lights just for the heck of it.

I have to be honest the only Monte Carlos I have even had interest in were the 70-72 MC SS big block cars. I have never really looked twice at the body style I own. As I have driven it the past couple of weeks I enjoy it more and more. Like I said it is an '04...best part? 70k miles....yep, 70,000 miles.....it is in fantastic shape and got it in a spectacular deal.

Though I just registered today I have spent a bunch of time already reading up on the Monte Carlos...looking forward to learning more about my car and hopefully optimizing what it has to offer.

Welcome to the forum. A member just recently added the DIC to their car as well.

Welcome Craig! What part of central ohio are you from? I'm as far up north as you can get before splashing on the lake lol.

I see you want to add a DIC to you monte. I just did that this year with my wife's impala and my monte this year. Using info from bbengineer, it was a pretty easy process using some parts from the junk yard.

Thanks for the welcome.

I saw the bbengineer threads...I emailed him about the pre-made harness he has. Site said his store was down...is he still on the forum? Does he still sell the pre-fab harness?

No problem if he doesn't. I installed an overhead console in my Durango a couple of years ago...they said it couldn't be done....well, I did it. This one seems to be a bit easier based on the reading I've done so far. Gonna hit the local picknpull and find a good donor piece. It appears I'll likely need to use an Impala donor...more of them in the junk yard than the Monte Carlo.

When you installed your DIC, did you just tap into the wires or did you use the pre-fab harness from bbengineer? Did you encounter any problems?

Thanks guys.

BBEngineer to my knowledge has shut down his store. I'm not sure, but I thought I heard it was due to lack of enough interest to justify keeping up an inventory of the parts.

I do a lot of DIY stuff. I built my own T-harness (using the write up BBEngineer provided). Building the T-Harness from junk yard pieces is a piece of cake. You don't need the entire roof harness, but you need to stretch all the way back. There is a FAT connector in the rear passenger side quarter (just under the speaker deck). You need those connectors to make a T-harness. I mad sure to solder and heat shrink tube all my connections, wrapped it all neat in electrical tape.
Here's a thread about my installs (shows some pics from the process):

Also, if you want to drive up to Toledo this Saturday, I'm trying to get some Monte guys from MCF.com to meet at the Hooters there (it's about a 2 hour drive for me, but I like the food and a mini-meet sounds like a good reason to go).
Here's the link for that:
