Well, part of my problem is that I understand how a choke works, just not in relation to these carbs. Did the one you buy have an electric or manual choke?

Wish I could help you, unfortunately I'm not familiar with the earlier gen Monte Carlo. Here's a *bump* to your thread tho.

Not to tell you what to do, but you might get a quicker response in the Tech, or perhaps a section that relates more to the problem.

Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum. ?'ing the 305HO part, IMO, ALL 305HO's had 4bl carbs, not 2bl, which would make yours a non HO. Am I right here people? Lower compression engine. Probably lots of things you can do with that engine, but EVERYTHING on ANY engine costs $$$$, and IMO, a 350 would make a better starting point. Again, just my opinion.
