I have 18's. I drive a LOT. I WANTED 20's, but I knew the difference in ride, the amount of bad roads we have her, chuckholes, etc. 20's don't hold up to these roads well. They get bent easily.
IF it's a summer car, 20's and an inch lower are OK, maybe 18's and even 2 inches. But if it's going to be a winter driver also, like mine, I NEED all the ground clearance I can get!
16's are better for winter.
I run Goodyear F1 GS2 245-45-18's on Eagle 077's in the summer. It's the perfect size, IMO.
