Hello All,
My name is Dan. I have a red 2006 Monte Carlo. It has been my daily driver since 2008, 142k miles. The only mods I’ve done are a K&N Cold Air Box and Flow Master mufflers (most comments I’ve received over the years has been the throaty sounds).
This car has gotten me through all kinds of weather including 1’ snow on interstate during blizzard where the only thing that could pass me was a Raptor, point it and hit the gas!
I usually get very attached to my cars and keep them a long time. Previous car was 1997 Grand Prix GTP that I gave to my son when I bought this SS it had 220K miles.
My youngest son is going to be very happy that I joined this forum. He has wanted me to do all kinds of modifications to itthe car thinking that he’s going to get it.
I’m looking forward to reading about all the advice you all have to offer.
Welcome to MCF, Dan! My best advice is to baby that transmission.... They are notoriously weak. I've replaced mine once already. The next time it needs one, it'll be someone else's problem.... Show us your car when you can.
Hi Dan - I’ve got a 2007 SS - 84,000 miles that I got in Aug. Rust around the fender wells besides the trans are issues to be concerned about. I had to repair a small area of rust on my car that I missed seeing when I bought the car. Good thing I have a friend with a body shop. But besides the rust issues and being careful with the trany I absolutely love my Monty.
