Default New member...just looking

Hey boys (and any possible girls). Just wanted to say hello. I mainly joined because I've been looking for a mid 80's monte carlo SS for a few years now. I'm really looking for a 85 (year I was born) SS, white or black, with t-tops plus w/e other goodies it might have but any mid 80's year would work. Is there a feel that a certain year in the mid 80's were better then the rest? I currently own a 2004 mazda3 thats modded up a bit, but if I was to get the monte, all my time and money would go into that. I graduate college in about a year and will prob buy one in that time frame unless I find a sick deal.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I'm looking forward to learning tons about this car.

I'm also surprised this place isn't all that busy. The top poster only has 3k in posts...on the mazda3forums.com I personally have 8k post and I only been a member for about a year and a half. The top poster of the site has over 14k posts, but I dunno if I would be proud of that since it's mostly whoring.

oh-yea...my parents have a 2002 monte carlo SS silver. Good car. not many problems (from your type "it's american car" bs)

85 is a good year to get.The 83 and 84 SS only came in white and blue, but in 85 black and dark maroon and silver were added. The 85 also had a slight horsepower increase.I had a maroon 85 that I bought new.Ones in really good condition are probably bringing more nowthan I paid new in '85.($13.300 if I recall). If you go up to 86 or 87 however, then the Aerocoupe is also available.I really wish I would still have my 85,but other things often have to come first.

I dunno why, but black cherry or the maroon really doesn't tickle me. The aerocoupe really don;t do much for me. I found a SUPER nice white 85 SS with many many upgrades and in show condition for only 10K but I didn't have the money. I am hoping my graduation can help me with that, even though I am not expecting anywhere close to 10k

Welcome to the web site.

Nothing wrong with wanting to own a 4th generation Monte SS. Add me to that list. I wanted one ever since they were new. But for some reason owning one has never been in the cards for me?

I do own an '86 LS w/305 H O engine which I've tried to make a nice car. It's mostly stock as that's the way I prefer to keep it. It does have some upgrades to improve it. And last fall I became the owner of an '06 3.9LTZ Monte which has proven to be a great car so far.

If you've never heard of it before, MonteSS is a great site for 4th gen Monte owners. And NMCOA is a great Monte generations club. Not to mention MCF.

Please keep us updated on your Monte SS search.

Welcome to MCF Brandon! Ebay usually has a few cars a month for the year you are looking for in decent shape.
