ok im new to the site well anyway i just got this monte but it has alot of bodywork damage and i've been gettin quotes to fix this from $3000 to as high as $4300 and thats without partswell this 1 guy said he'll fix it put the parts on and paint entire car for $2500 but i gotta get the parts and i just realized i got the hook up on a paint shop so should i just ask him to do the work without the paint for like $1200 and have him put all the parts on and paint somewhere else or should i have him do it all? by the way the parts alone will be about $1000

Hello Miami from Michigan, and Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum. 1st for me, what color is it? I just had some paint work done on my black Intimidator from a tree limb accident, and am unhappy with the paint job. Most anyone can hang new parts and do some straightening, almost anybody. The paint job is what's critical to me. That's the tough decision. Make sure your painter has a GREAT reputation. Pay the couple of extra bucks for the quality paint job.
A co-worker just paid $6,000 for a paint job on a Camaro, and had overspray EVERYWHERE! He was p____d off BIG time!
You get what you pay for, usually, especially in paint.

I hope you got this car for almost free, because it looks totalled to me! Good luck on getting the swirls out of the paint from the polish and buff. Black is the worst! The engine will straighten itself out when a new cradle gets put in.
I totalled 2 '01 Impalas, and they both looked that bad. I got checks for $13,000 both times. Second time is when I went to the '01 Monte SS LE. Black, of course!
Good luck to ya!

the bags are gonna set you back about 800 bucks, the hood 200 bucks the fender 100 bucks the bumber 180 or so and you can buy a pair of black headlights for like 200 bucks.....so whats that.....1480 for parts, and maybe 1000 @ most to get a good paint job, looks like there maybe a little bit of frame straightening needed too....

those are just approx prices on the body parts....probably cheaper in u.s. $$$

that should give you some sort of estimate for what it should cost...and 1000 bucks for paint is steep considering all they need to paint is the hood, bumper, and fender....just from the doors forward @ most so it could only be like 500 bucks

Wow, dude...that old girl has seen better days! My 2003 Cavalier was smashed less than that and my insurance company totaled it. Too much frame straightening. Same side smash too. I'd be surprised if you can find all those parts for around $1000. I'm almost certain that the framewill need straightening too. Notcheap. But hey, if you canget it all done, the Black Beauty will ride again!! Good luck, bro.

My friend painted his own car, with a cheapo spray system that hooked up to an air compressor, indoors, for 300 bucks. ENTIRE car. All it takes is some time, a little wet sand technique, and patience. His paint job turned out great. if you are gonna have someone do it, make sure they have a great reputation, as some of the other guys stated. Cheaper can mean better, or worse. Black is a pain in the @$$ mainly because like RocknSS said, it shows the most flaws....

As far as the work, you sure have it cut out for you. I also hope you got a good deal on it. Kudos to you for the ambition to fix 'er up. I know I wouldn't want to do it. Good luck! Take Pictures along the way! I am SURE we would love to see the progress. I know I can't wait to see what you do with her.

Good Luck!

hey bud...
sounds a lot like you got a close hookup to me! I live Wisconsin and have a paintball shop (auto attitude) that does all my work for me. He also owns a Autoshop next to the field, so i get the best of both worlds! All I can say is start visiting a lot of scrap/junk yards in the area. your bound to pick up a good amount of that stuff for much cheaper... heck, it may already be in black!
