Default New member 2nd monte

Hey guys. Frank fr


om Tennessee. 04 monte with 175,000 miles and tight as a tick. Garage kept since birth. Rear view mirror doesn't work correctly. No dimming. How does this work? Thanks

No pics of your car?
Auto dimming mirrors are hooked up to electricity, once a sensor on the mirror notices bright lights it dims.

Welcome to the forum!
The auto-dimming mirror has s tenancy to fail, usually by a separation of the material in the mirror, resulting in requiring a replacement mirror. If it looks like it has a bubble in it or the "color" is off, then you have the failure I described. My advice, replace with a non-autodimming mirror.

As for the "tick", not sure which engine you have. If it is the 3400, those do have a tendency to develop a small tick that is relatively harmless.

Salvage yard may have a Mirror you could use.
