Hi Christina, and welcome to the forum.
The transmission must be an identical replacement. Even though both have the 4T65E transmission, there are differences. There is a tag facing toward the rear of the car on the passenger side of the transmission with some numbers and 3 letters that run vertically. (Really hard to see without a mirror or phone camera). Those letters will be like "LBD". They need to match.

Really sorry to hear that.
Please start a new thread with subject "Transmission problems" so as to not muddle up your "New member" post and we can discuss symptoms and possible solutions. We're all here to help.

Hi Christina, sorry to read about your problems...So many people have them today...We just have to keep on fighting to stay on the road.

If you can/t find the #, I suggest calling a local transmission shop and asking them your posted question.

Like Bob said there are many internal & electrical changes between years on the same model transmission.
Yours and your friends are both 4T65E
