When I bought my car I really didn't look at anything else, I knew I wanted another SS Monte Carlo. I loved my 1987 and and I really wanted to own another one. When i test drove it I was so impressed by the power, after that it was a done deal for me.

Sorry for the delay in replying, but it has been insanely busy lately. Back around 1985-86 I raced a few times at Epping. At the time I had a '69 Camaro SS with a '70 LT-1 350 (best time was 14.1 at something around 96 mph). It was a lot of fun, and I had wanted to run my '99 Trans Am last summer, but never found the time to do it. My only concern was running my daily driver, and having something break. Not much disposable income at the time, and I lived in fear of blowing the tranny or engine. And I lived in Revere at the time, so I had a 1 hour drive up and back. Luckily nothing ever broke from racing.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I know what you mean about using your everyday car on the track. So where there lots of rules on that track, and did the other drivers get upset if a newbie can to the track and didn't know what he was doing?
Hey Revere, what part I use to drive my 87 SS down there all the time, back in 1990/1991.

Hi Tony,
Back then every driver had to wear a helmet (DOT approved), and depending on the cars ET you would have to add more safety equipment, the faster the car the more you need. I have a friend with a '69 Camaro that runs in the mid-9 second range and he needs a full fire suit, 10 point roll cage, drag chute etc, etc. I don't think a street car would need any of that. We used to run on Wednesday and Friday nights (Streetcars under the stars) and it did not matter what you raced. I saw grudge matches between vans, truck, station wagons etc. There were some real sloooow races like when a 75 Caddy Sedan DeVille raced a '73 Lincoln Town Car. I think that was around 20 seconds, and probably 5 gallons of gas each. Bay those days were fun.
Anyway, I grew up on Washington Ave, near the Malden town line. I used to cruise Revere Beach on Friday nights (you could do that back then) with my SS, and watch the girls go by. Sigh.

Hi John,
Thanks for the info on the track, i think I might give it a shot. Yeah from Eastie originally, I did the same thing, wax the car all day then drive down to the beach and watch the girls. I have to admit it was fun.
