Any local shops that you can mentor at? Try to find a successful shop and have a conversation with the owner. You might be best just getting a certification and learning hands-on. This way, even if you don't make what you want to make per year, you wont' have the debt of the college to help off-set that.

I'm going to tell you right now. If you want to get into the automotive/collision repair field, I highly recommend Lincoln Tech, the best school out there! Their programs are completely hands-on, VERY little (if any) class time! They cover all the fields including Automotive technology, Collision Repair, and Welding. Also, once you graduate you can return to the campus and use their shop anytime!
I Plan on going there myself! I searched and they have a Campus in Grand Prairie, Texas; that's only 2 hours: 30 minutes from you!

Hello all! My name is Daniel Zilinski, I am 17 years old. I own a 2002 Monte Carlo LS (after a rough experience with a 90 model ford Tempo). I work at a grocery store for now, Plan on going to Wyotech after school is over with. I enjoy spending time with friends, going to the movies, spending time with the girlfriend, playing football, soccer, pretty much all sports.
