Monte's been hit
Good morning. My name is John, 49 yrs old, have a 2002 Monte carlo SS. Im in the army, getting ready to retire.
A few weeks ago my car was rear-ended. Dropped it off at the body shop for repairs. When I went to pick it up, the battery was low and didn't seem to charge. Lights started blinking, the traction system was off and wouldn't go back on, the dome light didn't work, the service engine light was on. Then the car crapped out a few blocks away.
Had it towed home thinking it was the alternator. Checked it out, not charging. Have you ever heard of anything like this before?

Hi `John,
First, thanks for your service to your country
What's your MOS ?Will your insurance company assist you ? If the car was running when it was hit & it's not now, I think they should pay for your problems.
It sounds like it may be because your battery died & it killed the auto computer. It may just needs to be reflashed (?)
I would suggest contacting your insurance agent to see `if they can assist in this problem & pay.

This was my first thought also. Low amperage can cause all kinds of electrical gremlins to pop up. Have your battery tested. If it's in good condition have it charged. If not install a new battery and go from there.
Hi John. Go Army! I spent 3 years active and 5 NG myself, 8th ID, 101st, and 29th. I had a similar problem on an earlier vehicle, it wound up being a loose ground under the dash, that makes stuff act crazy. It's a cheap thing you can look for if you can,t make insurance fix it. Good luck!
