Just picked up my first Monte. An 01 SS. The day after I got it, I realized both cooling fans were toast. Got a complete new assembly online for 88 shipped to my door in 2 days. Swapped it today and problem solved. Also had a p1404 today. I had cleaned the egr and put on a new basket. Well see how that pans out. Liking the car so far and mpg is great.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Looks like my p1404 is back. Few days ago I had p0440 that's when I cleaned the egr valve and put on a new gasket. Cleared the code. Now today I've got the p1404 twice. Haven't doing any searching on that yet. Lol I always get a check engine light within a day every time I buy a used car. My luck.

 

Might have to replace the valve and not just clean it. Could still be sticking.
