congrats to your friend on the find! $33 grand sounds a bit steep now already... i think KBB for excellent condition is around $18k (it was about $19k when i got mine under book in January).

anyway, the 04 intimidators were limited edition signature series cars with only 4000 made... as for your friend's particular number, he should have gotten a certificate of authenticity with the car that said his VIN and production #... if not, call Chevrolet customer service and give them the VIN and they can tell you what # it is (another thread here talks about that).

as for performance, the manufacturer numbers say 240 hp/280 ft-lbs torque... as for if that is crank or wheels? either way it's manufacturer's numbers which are notoriously low. a few bolt-ons can boost those numbers easily and those are also treated elsewhere in this forum.

i hoped this helped, if not, let me and the other members know... ppl here are very helpful! if you have questions, just ask! (btw, be on the look out for more Intimidators poppin up in your area... i had the only one here only for about two weeks!) again, congrats on the grab and welcome to the forum!

I think he meant that it still has the 33K window sticker from back in 04. While that is still rediculously high, I doubt he paid that 4 years later for it.

It’s a great SS, but those supercharged 3800's have some mediocre transmissions. Be careful, I hope you got some type of warranty on the transmission.I can think of a few people I know who had GM cars with that engine/transmission combo and had to get a transmission rebuild before 100k miles. I was one of them.

Welcome to the web site. I hope your friend enjoys his "New" to him Monte.

I too hope he got the Certificate Of Authenticity with the car as only one is ever issued. If this got lost or kept by the previous owner there's no way of getting a replacement. And any help from Chevy is a waste of time. I've living this right now with the '03 Pace car we bought back in may of this year. I've been on the phone with Chevy several times and even GM/Canada with no luck at all. They tell me there's no way to find out what number our Pace car is?

Tell your friend we'd like to see pics of his Monte.

Hi again, sorry i didnt get back here sooner, crazy week.
SHE loves the car and has the window sticker.I did mention the certificate to her and she will check...shes still dizzy from the purchase of the car and going to work the same day.

She paid 13 k for the monty. sounds like a fair price to me.she has been looking for a GOOD tony stewert monty but came onto this and thought it was just a "cleaner" car... stewert seems a little overkill with the orange

I have a buick grandnational thats has a bunch of things done to it,so i know the 3.8 in the monty is a nice motor...its not the same but it was the GM replacement for a blown GN motor. I love the GM 3.8 ...a very nice motor..

stock injecters in a gn can get youa 11.9 @ 105 mphwith 22 lbs boost.
Shes not looking for that though but she would like the smaller pully for the supercharger.

If i looked into these cars sooner i would have gotone, not a scion TC

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Congrats on her purchase of the 2004 Intimidator. Very nice car. And there are certainly a few of them here. Just a little history lesson, there is another Dale Earnhardt Monte Carlo. It's a 2002, but it has silver ground effects and the number 3 on the rear pillars.

If she wanted a cleaner looking car, she got the right one. One of our moderators (Wiz Kidd) used to have the Tony Stewart edition. I've seen the TS edition in person, and it's a cool look. But you have to be a Tony Stewart fan to drive it around everyday. I wasn't as much of a Dale Junior fan until I bought my Dale Junior edition Monte. I got so many people approaching me and talking to me about Dale Jr, I just became a fan and followed his career more closely. But it's all good. I don't mind.

I suspect your friend may get that a little too with all the Dale Senior fans out there.

The 240 HP is what the factory rates the car at the crank. All the 2004 & 2005 supercharged SS Monte's have the L67 engine (supercharged), with a slightly beefier transmission than the non-supercharged 3.8 (L36) engine. Which has 200 HP.

The phone # to Chevy Customer Assistance is 1-800-222-1020. They used to be very helpful with the build # question. But recently, they've been brushing people off. Or just out right ignoring them. But you're welcome to give them a try. As for the Certificate of Authenticity, you may have to try asking the car dealer she bought the car from, or track down the original owner or orginal Chevy dealership that sold the car in 2004, and ask them what happened to the certificate.

Good Luck. And congrats again on the new Intimidator!

thank you for the help and info,il tell her,she doesnt have internet.

Il get a fewphoto's of the car and as you guys know, its a nice car love black on a car and the silver wheels.

If shes lucky she has the certificate for the intimidater, she had the window sticker....she didnt know about the certificate though... I did tell her.

It looks axactly like the photoat the top left corner of this web-page.

like i said .... wish i knew thess was supercharged before i got my SCION tc...I would have got that very intimidater SS ....I like that car ...sharp.

Do you guys with the monty's hear ANY slight knocking when FLOORED ? ..... My grandnational does, floor it upto 80 and you hear ping ping a few time along the ride. holding steady at 14 lbs boost.

- I wonder what the injecter size is on a SS supercharged.
I wonder what the max boost is ona SS .
I wonder if they sell a adjustable regulater to rais fuel pressure along with a smaller underdrive pully(supercharger)

That carhas much more to give i think, ..in power
