You have to undo the two front Motor Mounts.
Attach a Ratchet Strap to the Engine Pulling Bracket and anchor the other end under the car using a old blanket to protect the finish.
Take-up the slack until you rotate the Engine as far forward as it will go.
Now, there's just enough room between the Firewall and the Block to spin wrenches.
I changes my wires to Bosch.
They're doing the job ... just fine!

My skill level is high. I have all the tools I need or get what's needed to do a job. After I got clued-in about the Ratchet Strap and tilting the Engine forward; I figured the job was going to be a Piece-O-Cake.
No dice.
It took me three days to get three Spark Plugs changed on the Firewall side of a 3400 Block.
I couldn't get the Plug Wire Boots to come off the Plugs. The wouldn't budge. I had to pull-out all the stops and fabricate a method to attach a section of nylon line to the Boot and pry the dad-blamed thing off them Plugs.
I only ruined one Boot.
Then the Plugs wouldn't come-out. I went from a 3/8ths Ratchet and Plug Socket to a 1/2 Inch Pry Bar to bust those Original Factory Plugs loose.
I had to fight with each one.
By the time I got done changing-out six Plugs and a whole set of wires; it was 3-Days of improvising and swearing and cursing and wondering why it was so hard for me to accomplish one of the simplest maintenance chores there is.
Get yourself a Ratchet Strap.
Stop-off at Salvation Army and get a few old pillows and a blanket.
After you get the Mill pulled forward away from the Firewall ... put the pillows right on top of the engine and spread the blanket out so you can lay right on top of the engine comfortably.
It's going to be a long day in camp ... doing the Rear Plugs and Wires.
You might as well make yourself comfortable!

Jeez. And I thought doing my back plugs was hard. I have to pull the entire UIM to get to the back and unbolt the throttle body runner and the coil pack bracket. Even then the rachet barely fits and thesocket doesnt want to come out of the hole. I had to tape it to the extention. It didnt take me nearly as long tho. Doing it 3 times to get the plug gap right is what really took the most time. [sm=smiley21.gif]
