RE: Howdy!
Actually we had 5 black, identical to mine, and two silver. The one silver SS with cloth seats and no sunroof sold for $16K!
Our dealership is changing owners and GM's (Motor Holdings) is running the store. They needed to get rid of all the 2006 models and all the older than 60-days used cars. They took HUGE LOSSES on all those cars. That SS they sold for $16K was a TRUE BOTTOMLINE $7,500 LOSS

RE: Howdy!
Welcome Craig, from another Michigan member, SW corner. Nice black SS you got, and a heck of a deal! Congrat's on your purchase. I hope you enjoy it as a Monte Carlo SS, and not just another car, like most dealers. Obviously not, or you wouldn't be putting the time into polishing it and mod'ing it to make it personal. I hope it becomes one of a kind, like most Montes here.
I'm a little partial to black Montes, as this is my second. 1st was a '01 SS LE, and now the '04 Intimidator, which I am in the process of adding more HP and bigger brakes. Dale was an Ebay purchase from a F--d dealer in Pa., half price with less than 5,000mi.

RE: Howdy!
Hi Craig,
Welcome to the forum. I'm so jealous of the deal you got on your car! I also have a black 06 SS. Some answers to a couple of your questions:
K& N makes a CAI kit for your car. I put one on my car, and it is awesome!
I believe you can keep the car from going into 4 cylinder mode by putting the gear selector into 3.
I know you didn't ask about the DRL's, but you can turn them off by turning the light switch to the left, which turns off the automatic light control. The only thing is, you have to do it each time you start the car.
Love the car, can you post a clip of what she sounds like?

RE: Howdy!
Hello Craig,
Beauty of a car you have. I too have the 06 black SS.Unfortunately I didn't get the deal you did,.And like mad717, We've installed the K&N CAI. It is well worth the dead presidents in my opinion. But unlike mad717we haven't done the exhaust as of yet.
Butwe are going to getthe MPDram air hood. We want the Monte to look unique coming at ya down the road and not like the Impala. Calling the body shops tomorrow to get an estimate to have it shipped to them, fitted, painted and installed. Oh my poor savings account!! Christmas coming early for us!!
I do have a ? for you though. We bought the Monte in April of this year with 50 miles on her. She sat on the lot for a year and apparently the lot boys used dirty rags when washing her. So youcan imaginewhat she looks like in the sun. (bad for us, we bought her on a rainy day and didn't know of the swirl marks, lesson learned) You said that you rubbed on yours and got her scratch free. How badly scratched/swirled was she? Can you please give me more details? What kind of rags did you use? Did you do it all by hand or with a buffer of some sort? Did you use that liquid clay stuff or a bar?LOL, tell me, tell me!! I appreciate any info you can give me on how to make her look paint look smooth again, aside from having clearcoat applied again.
Anyway, welcome and look forward to seeing more of your mods.
Sandi
