Interesting. What is that engine from? Almost reminds me of a Ford engine. DO you have this set up running yet or still in process?

it is the engine and transmission from a 2012 impala, and yes it runs haha
i had a 2012 impala in our backyard that was an accident car, and the transmission in my monte was ready to blow (again for the 5th time, I’m pretty hard on this car) and I’ve always wanted a 3.6 powered car, so I yanked everything out of the 2012, tossed it into my 03, and all is good!

here is some videos of it running, also the main reason for this was because i was bored and everyone i asked about it said it couldnt be done< plus the 6t70 is much stronger than the 4t65e

Curious how much power / tq has been put through a 6t70?

It seems like a 6t70 swap comes up periodically on the LS4 section of LS1tech (as the 4t65 is clearly their #1 issue out of the box), but no one ever seems to get them through to competion. I figure they're probably chasing it as an option because someone has proven they'll hold some good power, but Ive never really looked into them.

I mean I’ve seen a few of the impala guys get a lot of safe power through them (400-450 without issues) but its extremely similar to the trans found in the new Taurus SHO (joint trans between gm and ford) and they get some crazy power to hold well.

That is pretty wild! You have to share more info about that swap. Like did everything bolt right up vs need some fabrication; what PCM are you using (I assume the impala PCM). All the fun stuff. Always neat to see new ideas!

thank you man! so i ended up stripping the impala almost completely to the ground, everything out of the impala is in the monte now (fuel tank, brake lines, fuel lines, fuel pump, subframe, suspension, engine, transmission, all of the interior wiring, and even the dash!) all of it bolted directly in, dash and all, center counsil, all of it, the car now has 2007 grand prix gxp seats as well. here is a video of the interior

I admit, I miss the Monte dash and center console (I liked the 2000-2005 Monte console better than the 2006-2007). But considering the need for the PCM and working instrumentation, hard to NOT leverage a donor car! Still a wild transition!
