I think your decision between a blower or a cowl hood depends on what you want to do with your car more. If you're intending to take it to the dragstrip, go with the blower. But if you intend to drive it on the streets a lot, you may want to go with the cowl hood.

Around here, cops tend to harass cars with blowers. Like to get them on anything they can think of. Excessive noise, obstructed view of the road (blower blocking the driver's view), and so on.

 

Wow thats weak.

I got pulled over a cuple time because of noise...with stock exhaust...

Morons i tell you.

I would love to do both, drag and use it as a sunday car you know.

 

As you all know from reading a few of my posts, I am pretty new to this whole car thing.

I know some terms, how to use tools and I have even fixed a few things on my car.

But I was wondering if you all could help me find a GOOD manual to purchase that can tell me EVERYTHING I need to know, I mean everything, to essentially take my car apart and rebuild it.

 

Nice ride. And yes the hood would prob look really good and it would be preaty cheap .But the removing of the AC..ahh. that brings me back to my young years...lol I dont know about you guys but i need AC. I Actually did that once to my old monte, remove the AC, and boy did i regret every day that the temp went above 95 Degrees. .


P.S i just picked up a 1987 SS my self and needed a book. I got a Haynes Repair manual..It's preaty good, it tells you step by step instruction on how to due anything and it comes with the wiring diagrams for the car which is a big plus.

I have that book....and it really confused the hell out of me.

The AC was never charged so I never used it in the summer so I am not so worried.

 

oh man, i couldn't live without a/c now, in the summer i have all my windows closed (blacked out) and the a/c cranked, so cold you can see your breath, oh i love it but then when i get out my glasses always fog up..lol

 

Oh I love AC no problem...but I drove that car with out it for sooo long, and my other car with out it for so long I am ok with it.

But I do love AC

 

Nice monte. Personally I'd go with the blower.

 

The piece in front of the radiator is the A/C condensor and the A/c motor is called a compressor. Anyway, maybe look into getting a chiltons manual. The mechanic at work seems to like them better than the haynes manuals.
