Default Help air management valve issues

I'm new to the Monte Carlo life and I will be the first to admit I don't know much about cars. I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with a 3.8. All of a sudden last week the air management/diverter valve melted down. It melted the top rubber piece part and it started melting the other things around it. So I ordered a new one off of ebay for like 70 bucks. However, after reading around I found out that it's not supposed to blow hot air and that I might need a new check valve. Can anyone please point me in the right direction I what I need to get to keep this sweet car running?
