Hello all, I'm tommy from Louisville ky. I've always been active on other forums(ls1 forum/DSM forums) and my gf recently got a 00 3.4 Monte that she already loves and I want it to run like a top for her.

It started a whine and on a cold start the car wants to rev up to 2k in drive and not go? No hard shifts etc. Is this an internal problem or else?

One thing that is a weak link in our Montes is the transmission if not well maintained..

I would first have the filter and fluid changed... It may also be something as simple as an internal solenoid.. That can be accessed with a pan drop during the filter fluid change...


How many miles are on it? Is it low on fluid? What color is the trans fluid? Is it a bright pink? If it isn't...that could very well be your problem.

Welcome to mcf!! If I'm not mistaking the solenoids on the trans are under the side cover not the trans pan.
