Welcome to the Monte Carlo forum. You've definitely got a Monte Carlo family. My favorite is the 87 SS T-Top. It is on my list of must haves. I want an 87 Black SS Aerocoupe T-Top with red buckets and an automatic and console on the floor. On your car coming from Massachusetts check the rear frame. They tended to rust above the rear axel back to the rear bumper. I saw many with bungie cords and rope holding the bumper up. Enjoy your road trip and post pics when you get home. Gregg

Hello!
Yes, I don't know how we ended up buying a couple, but we did! lol We were originally going to buy one at a local junk yard...we went there to pick up a radio for the '03 we've had for the past 4 years, but it really was not cost effective, so we found the one in Mass. which my husband (and me too!) really loves, I've had a lot of 80's Montes when I was younger but never the SS. Then I joined this forum a few days ago and looked under used cars and saw one at a dealer in Shillington, PA, which I think is part of Reading, PA. It was on the way to MA, and the car (a black '01 SS in beautiful shape, all leather, all options) was the same as the junk yard car, only never been in a wreck. It was $1951.00 because of the very high mileage, but replacing the motor (which actually runs great) was a lot less than what we would have put into the junk yard one. We almost didn't get it, because when I called, though they advertised it on the internet, they said they would not sell it and that it was scheduled to go to auction that day. We talked to the manager, and they let us have it! It's scary buying cars sight unseen!
So now my husband is going to tow the '87, and I'm driving the '01 back. I'm going to need a LOT of coffee....thank goodness the boys don't have school Monday!!! ![Smile](https://montecarloforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

That is so nice of you and your family! We could probably come for a bit Sunday morning...we're signing papers on the black '01 first thing Saturday (today) but then have the family with the '87 waiting for us in MA! So by 4:00 we'll have the '87, then have to go back to PA to actually pick up the '01 first thing Sunday morning. Whew!!! If that sounds OK, please let me know and I'll call you Saturday night or Sunday morning, or you can call us (508) 498-7407. This site is so awesome!!!

Thank you for the advice! I have had a few 80's Montes when I was younger, they always did have rot problems. The '87 I was told is from California, so hopefully it is good because in MA the rocksalt in the winter really does damage. We too love the T's, and looked at a black aero before this one but it needed more work than we could afford. The only good part was the back window! lol We were thinking of turning the '87 into an aero by finding a back window, trunk, decking and a WHOLE lot of ingenuity. It won't be an original one of 6252, but it would at least look good...I hope! Oh well, maybe down the road....we will post lots of pics when we get back, then my husband has to teach me to drive a stick...oh boy, look out! Everyone keep your small pets indoors! lol So glad to be part of the family! Bill & Ro
