Default Hello everyone

My names Nate and im from Michigan. I recently bought a 1986 Monte Carlo LS with 70k on the clock for 1700 right here in my homestate of Michigan. I have yet to go and get it but im hoping that it is as good as what is says it is in the description. I figured the shape it was in, the year it is, and what I could do with it was well worth the price I payed. Most Montes are dead in my state by rust that is. Anyways heres the links to the car if youd like to see it. Let me know what you think?

I'm not gonna lie, body looks like it needs a little work, but has ALOT of potential! Interior looks immaculate!! Congratulations on your purchase, and we look forward to seeing what you can do with her!

Thanks Keegan, that is what I though about it too. It looks like it will need a paint job in the future. I am not the biggest fan of the color anyway. I think black would suite the car very nicely. It is really funny how I came to buy this car. I am not a big fan of the newer cars anymore. I had 97 Grand Prix GTP which was somewhat fast. Similar to the Monte Carlo of this day and age too but it sure had a lot of problems. I used to call them **** riders lol but everyones got their own interests. Ive heard some good ones for the Grand Prix as well lol. I am out of FF cars though for good. I am sticking with throttle body or carberated from here on. It would be neat to drop a 305 or a 350 in her someday. For now it will just be leizurly driving though.

See, the awesome thing about your car is that, unlike our engines, where we are kinda stuck with our engine, and are forced to buy performance parts that are specific for it.... If you saved up enough money, you could easily drop a 350 in there, and there would be no clearance issues whatsoever, and it would haul...

I think black would be a very nice color on that car, and if you got it done right, it would make that car look incredible..

Everytime I see that style car, I think of the movie "Training Day", where he cruises around in his low-rider Monte...

Good luck Nate, and please keep us updated!

Now what I wonder is, are the trannies the same on the 4.3 and the 305 Montes. From what I have found there was a 4 speed and a speed which is the one used on my car. I know the motor mounts have to be changed too to support a V8 engine. I dont know if they are welded on or what though. The 5th and 6th are just like my gtp. Nice cars though. I just got sick fo doing repairs to a car with 281,000 miles lol. I will find more info. I have to read the threads on this site though.
