just got the car delivered today! wont be road ready for a few weeks, still needs to get a safety and e-test
things I would like to get done and some that need to get done:
-rear view mirror needs to be replaced
-e-break current does not work
-would like to get the SS headrests if affordable
-want to transfer my subs and deck from my current car to this bad boy
-the monte carlo lettering is the same colour as the rest of the car, would like to make it black but it appears to be a sticker and looks like ill do more harm then good trying to remove it to paint it : (
if anyone has any solid and affordable sites they like to buy parts from please do link, but im guessing amazon or ebay is my best bet aside from scrap yards

For the emblems, use plasti-dip. Works great to black out emblems.

got the rear brake lines replaced, fronts will be left alone for now. Waiting on an order for front struts/spring coils and need to look into getting a new parking brake cable. Pretty sure that's all I need before I can get it tested and put on the road : )

haven't got to this point yet but was wondering if anyone here could save me time, I got the factory amp in the trunk... can I just swap that amp out with mine and use the same cable hook ups? I have an old: Power Acoustik TS980-2 2-channel car amplifier 220 watts RMS x 2 at Crutchfield.com
or am i looking at re-wiring the car?

Congrats man! I have the same Monte as you as far as color and features goes. It's my first car as well. Except, I paid 9000 for it. When I first bought mine I didn't like the color at all then it started growing on me. The only thing that I don't really like this color is you can't find touch up paint for it anywhere; it's really hard to match when you get a scratch.

Nice Monte! Welcome to the best club for all things Carlo!
Great deal you got, too! I, myself, just got my second Monte Carlo, near-mint, for $1,800. You an I got some bargains! (Though mine is Torch Red, I'd trade you colours! )
As for transfering your system, I can't give you much advice, although I believe the stock head unit is part of the computer of the car, that is, there are some things you have to have the original unit for. I.e., I had a Low Tire Pressure warning on my message center, an had to go through the radio to reset the message so it wasn't lighting up my dash. There are quite a few threads on here about replacing the stock stereo. You can also adjust how long your headlights stay on, a few keyless entry options, ect.
I would highly recommend reading through all you can about these cars' stereos, as a lot of members here have run into just about any an all problems or modifications you can think of. This forum really has nearly anything you could possibly think of if you have questions.
Congrats on your new ride, an we look forward to seeing some pics an hearing what you've done to make it unique to yourself!
