Default Engine starts and runs normally, but suddenly dies while driving

I've replaced the starter, alternator, battery, MAF sensor and lastly the fuel pump. Car starts, drives fine then shuts off!?! Crazy I've researched online but so many things it can be going to try ignition switch. Read that it can enabled the security system which shuts the cafe off!

I assume you have an '01 Monte? SS or non-SS? Sounds like you're throwing parts at this problem (I'm not sure why the starter).
- Have you had a mechanic look the car over?
- Have you had someone scan the computer for any current, past or pending codes? If so, what are the codes (these should start with P and then 4 digits)?
- What mileage is on the car?
- How long have you owned it and what maintenance has been done on it and when (date/mileage)?
- Was anything done/changed with the car around the time this issue began?

Odds are the car is in need of some basic maintenance. We have a thread in our FWD Tech Info stickied that covers common 100K mile maintenance.

Usually from what I've heard, a bad PassLock chip in the ingition lock cylinder causes the car not to start. If you are able to consistently restart the car, I would not jump to the ignition switch.

Without knowing more and taking a shot in the dark, you could have a bad MAF (even with a new one, even more so with a non-AC Delco MAF), bad O2 sensor, bad/aged spark plugs.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? I've had this similar issue and turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. Cheaper than a fuel pump also might be a clogged fuel filter. One thing you could do basically for free is check the fuel pressure

Yes I've had a mechanic look at it all the things I've mention was recommended. When they put it on the computer they said it was the fuel pump and I replaced it the next day same thing. Has about 170,000 miles in it. All basic maintenance has been done up to a tune up. When the car first started doing this the security light would flash! Now when it turns off the battery light flashes. I've had the battery replaced. I also replaced the MAF BEFORE I did the fuel pump.

Has anyone checked the computer for actual engine codes? Have they provided those to you? If so, what are the codes (these should start with P and then 4 digits)?

The codes help reduce the guess work as GM has a lot of diagnostic info to cross reference those codes against.
