i know its bad and whatnot
but you look so cool when you do it haha
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the car will let you hold the brake down and get the RPM's to 2500..I think it has a governor of some sort that limits you to like 1500 or 2000 RPM...Like I said though i'm not 100% sure because I've only done this once to my 06 3.5L and if I remember it was 1500 RPM max with my foot on the brake. But my car will peel rubber even at just 1500 RPM, and it does a pretty good job of leaving marks on the street even if I just stomp on it from a stop....

Putting Be careful when puttin 18inch rims on it...Make sure your overall tire&wheel size is the same as stock, and make sure your new rims are not much heavier than stock, or you will suffer in the performance catagory.

I have Magnaflows on my Monte, and love the sound!

DO NOT get a L67 SS! You won't want to pay the extra for the insurance, nor the extra 20 cents a gallon for the premium gas it requires. You'll destroy it running it on regular. Stick with a SS. They have PLENTY of power. 200 hp is PLENTY for a 1st car.

I didn't read all the posts but I'm going to say NO to getting a Monte as a first vehicle. Reason #1 - first vehicles almost always end up wrecked. Get a "disposable" car.
Reason #2 - insurance will likely be very high.
Reason #3 - At 16, you need real world driving experience not a fast car (not that a Monte is super fast, but it is super nice - reread reason #1), that'll just get you or someone else killed.

It looks like a pretty solid 5th gen. Check around the gas cap, it's a major fault for bubbling and rust. Usually rusts from the underside to the outside, so "feel" for the bumps coming through.

The engine will last, given that it's had routine services, and it's an amazing engine. I would express my interest in it, but keep looking and try to test drive it soon.

There are a couple things that need work. But considering it's a 1999, you would expect to have some routine things like the struts to replace.

The cracked bumper could be handled a couple ways. If the crack is small enough, you may be able to fix it. Depending where the crack is exactly. Another option is a good used bumper cover from a junk yard. Or you could just ignore it if you want.

From what I could see in the ad, it seems like a decent first car. It's got the 3800 engine you like, plenty of aftermarket stuff available, and it's affordable. The insurance won't hammer you as bad.

I wouldn't stop on that one just yet. You should definitely keep looking around. You never know, you may find one in even better shape.

I say go for what's most affordable.
Heck, i pay 400.00 just on insurance alone!
Not to mention my car payments.
I am 22 btw...

... i am not going to lie, i love my Monte. It's a very expensive gift to myself.
