??
I would check the fluid dip stick and make sure the oil is clean, also check the Trans fluid to see if its red and not brown. Make sure the seats are not torn if it has a leather interior you can use Baby oil on it to get the Leather conditioned back up
The 5th Gen MC's are great cars and will last many miles if you take care of it. 40k is low miles for sure. I would say if you can get it for 5,000 or less you have got a pretty good deal, but just to make sure check the Kelly Blue book site to see what it is worth there.

Well, with that advice coming from the man, the myth, the legend. the forum member with the sweetest 5th Gen, follow it. And from now on just ask yourself "WWDD" What would Dean Do? Get on down Sarge, clean, Mr. Clean, from some South Nebraska corn field.
I took it too my mechanic and it was leaking everywhere. If I was to drive it,the timing g belt needs to be changed. It looks real good externally so if you are a Monre Carlo enthusiast, this is a classic. BTW I passed on it
I tried to see what the Kelly Blue book site would do but they want a license plate or a vin # to get anything done on that now.
If you check cargrus there was probably 145 examples listed across the USA and they are not cheap for sure. My 5k thinking isn't even close

. I might need to up the coverage on my car. Keep hunting they are out there just gotta find it.
I had this big farmer who wanted to hire me a couple of years ago to help during Harvest they needed an extra Truck driver so I went on a ride along and the truck had an Automatic in it.
first one I ever seen although they are around a lot.The one I drove was a Manual back in the 70's.
I didn't feel comfortable in it and especially driving at night roaming around in the country.

So I turned it down.
When I was loosing sleep over it, and being retired I just don't need that kind of stress.
haha
You recall the Monte Carlo commercial from the 2000 year Taz, Dale E and Dale Jr was in anyway my doppelganger said
" now there are 2 ways to do this! There is my way and the Wrong way"
