Default 95 monte having rough start problem after replacing fuel pump

i just replaced the fuel pump in my 95 and now i am having a hard time getting it to start and keeping it running.. when i turn it over it acts like it wants to start but then dies and sounds like it is having a back fire.?.? could it be the fuel regulator sensor or a vacuum line?? i honestly dont know what to do.. any help would be nice.. thanks

Not sure what the odds are, but could the replacement fuel pump be defective? It starting and stalling sound like symptoms of a bad fuel pump. It could be the fuel regulator also. I'm not a mechanic but just my thoughts, welcome to the forum as well, good luck getting your issue sorted out.
