4t65E ratio F83 with FR9 chain and sprockets?
Hey guys. I'm new here. I just have a couple of questions. I may be aquiring a cheap 2004 monte ss non supercharged with a "bad" transmission. 1 of the techs at work diagnosed it and im confident in his work. It is the FR9 3.29 ratio. I already have a good F83 3.05 ratio from a 2004 grand prix out and on my garage floor from a car I junked last year. My question is can I use the F83 transmission by changing the drive and driven sprockets and the chain? What else needs to be changed? I don't mind swapping some stuff to make it work. I'm just not sure what else is different.
I thought the 3.29 and 3.05 both used the same chain / sprockets (1:1, 35 teeth to 35 teeth) and that the difference was in the differential gears?
Should be able to use either HD diff (with the HD cover and axle) or a standard diff from a 3.29 car to get you back to a 3.29 ratio.
