Default 2007 Monte Carlo SS Upgrades

Ok so I currently have an 03 monte carlo lt, which I love. I have always had and loved monte carlo's. Tomorrow though I go to pick up my new Monte. 2007 SS. I immediately have plans, been planning since I was approved the loan. The first thing I plan to do is replace the entire exhaust system..I'm talking headers, and a full magna flow cat back exhaust system. I was wondering if anyone has done this, and what kind of gains I can expect. I also want to put a Cold air intake system on, but I have heard the Cold Air induction systems were better for the 5.3? Anyone have any suggestions? I tried googling it and all I got were cold air intakes, I know there is a difference. Also any other successful hp upgrades would be much appreciated.

Cartuning performance makes a turbo kit if you want big gains

I did not know they made a turbo kit for these... I was trying to find a supercharger but no luck yet, that is definitely a thought, but I am sure I would have to upgrade the tranny and all sorts of stuff like that, did you turbo yours?

They don't make superchargers for them. Mods are very limited for the v8 monte turbo is your only option to make it quick.

how much did you have in putting the turbo on yours? I think my first upgrades are going to be doug thorley headers 1000$, A full magna flow cat back system 950$ a cold air intake 250$ and then I'm kinda kicking around some other things, but the turbo idea sounds like a winner.

Just a tip don't spend 250 on a cai lol. You can make on with PVC or flexible black 4" pipe then put a cone filter on end for like $50 and it's just as good if not better. Intake tubes aren't supposed to have any turns or bends.

Duly noted, thanks for the tip, Ive bought k&n intakes before n had pretty good luck, but I guess making them would be pretty easy too. Does cartuning have a website I tried googling it, and only got youtube videos :/. I wanna try and push this thing over 400 horses by summer time

Not saying k&n is bad just costly for what it is and they always have bends in the tube. There have been studies on how much bends affect airflow it's a lot.

Welcome!

I've done mostly subtle things to mine, as I like the stock look of these cars, but a few of the more notable items are below. Future plan is to build the engine and revise exhaust as needed to increase hp.

No headers (yet) but I have the #16727 MagnaFlow system and love it.

I've also lowered mine; drop of approx. 1.5".

The lowering setup I'm currently running; Bilstein HD-Series struts paired with Canuck Motorsports lowering springs.

Custom painted engine cover (and K&N 63 Series intake).

If the 06-07 monte ss had a 3.8 sc I would sell mine in a heartbeat lol. I love the new looks added to them. One of the best lookin cars on the road. One thing about engine covers why so many people take them off is they trap so much heat from motor and prevent your engine from cooling faster.
