Default 2002 ss

I love nice cars and have been around them all my life. My Dad is an Engineer and a master mechanic but sadly none of his technical skills rubbed off on me - just his passion.

I am currently driving a 2002 SS Coupe that is *bright* red with 71,000 miles on it. The bright red also serves as my Lane Departure Warning. It's been in the family from birth. I love driving this car. My friends tell me I'm probably the only middle-aged white woman in Atlanta with one. Ha-ha.

There are certain advantages of driving an older car - people with expensive fancy cars let you merge whether they want to or not. It gets great gas mileage using regular gas and maintenance expenses don't require me to donate a kidney.

I am not a brand loyalist. Before this car, I had a 2004 Mercury Marauder which I loved very much but it wasn't very practical for Atlanta city driving and I sold it.

Since this is getting some age on it I am considering selling it but wanted to check out what other drivers are saying about theirs. The only issue I have is the gasket around the driver door is dry rotting so I have to wear a raincoat if I drive in the rain. Oh, and a sensor has failed but I haven't bothered to replace it.

Looking forward to learning from you all,

Cindy

Welcome! Sounds like minor things you have, or are, dealing with. And 71k isn't much for a 2002, that's ~4,300/year which is nothing. I've seen people with 200k+ miles on their's so it's possible you could get a LOT more out of it with proper maintenance. I've got 95k on my 06 SS with the V8 but since it's my second car it's stored winters and only sees about 1k miles a year.
