1987 Monte Carlo
Hi I am new to this site I may be getting a 1979 Monte Carlo that is in excellent shape. It has the small V8 and it has 70,000 original miles. He wants 6500.00 for it but I may be trading him my 1989 K5 Blazer for it. Mine is in great shape it needs a couple of minor things to make it a show winner. I had mine up for sale for 7500 obo I would take 6000-6500. The only reason I am selling my truck is because I am not into the 4wd thing I have several other cars that I like much more 87 Iroc, and 87 2wd truck both in excellent shape. I have always liked the 78-80 Monte Carlo even before Denzel had on on training day. Just wanted to know what you think about it.
Thanks
Bill

Ah, my Dad used to have a black 85 K5 Blazer. Those are sweet trucks. I actually wouldn't mind having a late 60's to early 70's K5 some day. Welcome!

welcome to the forum. a lot of new 3rd gen guys lately. i like it. 6500 seems pricey to me, but if the body and interior are 100% perfect than its not too bad. the motor your talking about i assume is the 267 it was rated one of the top 10 worst motors by car craft a few years back. not for any particular reason other than that it was a complete dog, and i think there was some issue that it couldnt pass cali emissions so the california cars got the 305(not much better). if your just cruising itll do, but if your looking to street fight this car its going to need a proper motor.
