Default 1970 Monte Carlo

Hey guys I recently acquired a beautiful 1970 Monte. I traded my first vehicle my 1990 jeep Wrangler for her. I am having carb issues though... It has a 750 holley on her with a edlebrock intake. When I got her home it was idlingvery high so iI dulled her down with the appropriate pressure on the vacuum lines. Drive for 20 minutes and she will die when not giving any gas... Needless to say I am still a YouTube noon and have only tinkered on a few carburetors. I believe that the carb is too big for the 350 stock...

Welcome to the Forum 1970!
I checked your profile and I see you haven't filled it out so...We/I don't know your name...yet...lol

I did however, check out the Pic you posted of what looks to be a beautiful Monte!

I'm not quite sure...How you idle it down thru vacuum and the "appropriate" pressure. I see you mentioned that once it gets warmed up you have to 2 foot it to keep it idleing... That sounds like a cpl of possibilitys. I believe you can solve the Over carb issue by merely jetting it down and changing out the power valve...

As far as the idle issue... I have 3 different things in Mind...
Not knowing where you live (what climate) makes it challenging.

What kind of choke setup is on the vehicle?
Manual, Electronic, or Heat sink?

Since someone obviously changed it out from stock..That means that they had to remove the distributor. Which leads me to believeing its a possible timing issue. Does it still have the stock points setup or does it have an HEI distributor(electronic).

It could also be a improperly adjusted Carb settings via the Idle air mixture screws aren't functional do to a vacuum leak...

I hope this helps...and maybe someone else will chime in with more ideas..

Also pls let us know what the fix was...
