the 70 monecarlos came with a bigg block option with the 454 motors in them, they also had the 4 speed option but are rare as a true production car.

So to answer your question. YEAH!! 502? the blower will fit on top of it and you could almost still shut the hood LOL

also if you have a 70 monte that was a big block you migh thave a transplant unles syou have run the numbers i have actually seen where folks took the BB out for a SM.

the one i had was pretty quick for what it was with a 350 out of a old vet. in it.
but i have seen some with a BB
good luck and keep us updated

any car that came with a small block can put a big block no problem you dont even have to change anything the motor mounts are the same the transmission fits you will have to mod. the exhaust tho so i guess you have to change somthing but overall its eazy i did it a couple of times

dont forget to replace the front springs out with a stiffer version. other wise it will tend to bottom out the front end on ya also.
but seriously it is not difficult.

The only other thing I have seen on some older Monte's is that ya might have to check into the power brake booster being really close to the valve cover. I don't know for sure if it will be an issue on a 70 or not but I would keep a close eye on it when your setting the motor in. Other than that like everyone said, it will fit with minor troubles.
