Greetings!

The first thing I would do is check all fuel line connections and the vapor purge lines coming from the charcoal canister. Did you fill your tank recently? When you fill your tank do you stop when the pump kicks off or do you top it off? If you top off liquid fuel (instead of vapor only) can get into the charcoal canister. The result is the random smell of fuel. Continued topping of the tank will eventually clog the canister.

Welcome to the Monte Forum...

I have the same issue with My Daughters 04 Impala, I smell a fuel leak before I start as well as when I park it... Doesn't smell that bad while its running, but I have to find where it's coming from before it flames up....no fuel on the ground, (evaporation) or its on or near the fuel rail.... Ill let you know what I find as well... Thanks... Mjc....
Good luck, n welcome again.....
