Qualifying is in. Now Ford took the top 4 spots, Kyle Busch taking 5th, first Chevrolet being Ryan Newman in 8th. Looks like Ford could be reclaiming Vegas... they dominated like the first 6-8 years the place was open. Mmmmm..... this makes making pics interesting!

I'm thinking Ford is back... they're looking awfully tough in practice and qualifying.... but the Chevrolets might have better race setups. I may change my pics pending final practice, but here we go....
1) Matt Kenseth
2) Carl Edwards
3) Kyle Busch
It's tempting to make all Roush picks.. but if there end up being engine failures or somethign to that effect, I want another pick from another team. I'm thinknig of adding Kyle Busch... but what if Carl Edwards gets behind him? Are they leaving Phoenix behind them?
EDIT: I did take Kyle Busch... Gordon just doesn't seem to be there in practice, Kyle Busch is... I'm going to hope he and Edwards put Phoenix behind them... I think I'm going to regret this though....

F!!!!! That was a GD good day in racing!!!!!
Mark Martin just won the Nationwide race!!! He won the first Sprint Cup race there ever and has heardly ever lost a Nationwide race there ever. How has this guy maintain the underdog status in racing for 30 years IDK, but I'll pick him to win again tomorrow and nobody else has. He was the first to ever win at Vegas, not to mention that win was the first ever for a Ford Taurus in Nascar. He was also the second fastest Chevy to qualify - Newman was the fastestest, but he is a plug and an imbecile (but apparently an real nice guy).
And Danica Patrick just snagged 4th place - the best finish by a woman in Nascar ever! She has yet to run 20 stock car races of any kind in her career! So nay sayers be damned - she is great! Good looking or not! She is also 4 th in Nationwide points right now. I think its a shame that she'll walk away to be a loser in IRL. The money and the fans are over here!
I'm not making my picks quite yet. Anyone wanna add Martin to theirs? I'll let you change 'em....

JuniorCar... NA$CAR is all about "what have you done for me lately" and he hasn't won here in several years, and didn't win all last year. But MArtin is showing some promise early in '11... I'm liking what I'm seeing.
By the way, do tyou think when he hits about 185-190, those wrinkles in his face peel back and he looks normal until he stops?
As far as Danicamania... let me see some consistency before I call her good. She proved herself fairly well in Indy though. Remember, anything is possible in this sport... Robby Gordon has won a race (and is now on probation for some incidnet with Kevin Conway... like third page news on NASCAR.com). And by being 4th in NATIONWIDE points... she has proven that she is a competent second-rate driver! WOO HOO!!!
I'm dealing out the criticism tongiht, aren't I? By the way, why is Junior like 3 mph slower than the other Hendrick cars in practice? Real weird. Is he that bad, or is he another victim of that 4th Hendrick team being a lot of crap?

This is the home track for the Busch Boys, therefore that's my choice for #1.
