And ya'll better not be serious about same design, 2 manufacturers. No part on either car interchanges. Although similar looking and all that mess, not a single part will interchange from either car.

Yes, Plymouth based their design off the successful Dodge model... but no, the parts will not swap as Plymouth made their own quirks to the design.



Any "winged warrior" historian would have your @$$ for claiming their the "same design" in the wrong context....


Although strangely enough, some of these guys swear Dodge sold the back window design for the Dodge Charger 500 (NOT the Superbird, as the backwindow is different, noted above), to Chevrolet to use for the Vega. And some guys who have built clones say if you take a Chevy Vega rear glass, and turn it upside down, and make a small modiifcation to your window trim, the window fits.....


I'm honestly not certain this is the body style they swear is the same.... but I think it is.







Please also note, the rear window design is clearly different than the Superbird....








And this is the look on your face when you entertained the proposition that a Charger Daytona nad a Chevy Vega share a part, whiel a Superbird and Daytona 500 might not.......

Classic NASCAR Photo of the Day.... I have several of these, but I'll just post one and move on... this comes from a series of shots taken by a fan at Michigan during a race weekend.... most shots are just a single car on the track. Some have 2-3 cars in a shot but they aren't really that good.


This is Buddy Baker and the Charger Daytona.

Where did you hear that a vega window would swap out to fit a daytona 500?

Thats just so rediculious....


I wonder who buddy bakers sponsor was in that photo?
Thats some pretty bright colors.... especially the yellow wing really pops!

I think ive been in that seat at MIS!

SUPER SHARP Charger Daytona up there Duane. Man, I can only dream. That is Hunter's dream car too.
Yea, I agree with Duane, the RoadRunner and Charger are different. Not like the Camaro and Firebird.
Bakers car does pop. Got any better shots of that car?

They had no sponsors.... they werre sponsorex by dealers mostly.

As far as the back window story goes.... read again and i believe i stated that the guys who build dayrona clones figured that out

In honor of today being Sunday, I will share three classic NASCAR Photos of the Day....

First off, a better shot of Buddy Bakers 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona has been requested... here you go, a shot of him at Charlotte!!








Here is a shot of the 1969 race at Texas World Speedway.... we know it's 1969 because Petty is in a Ford. This was the last superspeedway race of the year. It was won by Bobby Isaac in a Dodge Daytona.... and one day, I'll share a picture and a story about an interesting turn of events that helped Isaac win that day....




And finally, I have shared the story before of how Bobby Allison and Lee Roy Yarbrough tangled in the final laps of the Rebel 400 at Darlington in teh spring of 1969... and shared photos of Yarbrough's badly beaten race winning 1969 Torino Talladega. Here is yet another shot I have found of the incident. How often does a car in this condition get to victory lane? This is a Don Hunter photograph...
