Yeah it was a chevy in one cup race i believe in 2000 but after that always dodge, & the pic u have of the 45 is actually Kyle driving, theres no name above the door window

 

Adam ran one cup series race weeks before he died, it was a Chevrolet, no idea who owned it. He was running okay, on the lead lap, and blew the engine. I was an 11 year old boy watching it. It was Texas in April.


It was a big moment for them because Lee Petty was there to watch his great grandson run that race. Lee died a few weeks later, and a few weeks later yet, Adam died. Taht was just a terrible time for the Petty family.

 

Yeah i rmbr them both passing fairly close in time to each other, just a bad time all around for em & i wanna say kyle ran the 45 in a cup race aswell in 2000

 

yeah Chris I looked for that pic for a while this morning. I was gonna do that one or the Daytona pic with Mark Martin. I figured this one would be better because of all the Gordon fans.lol

I'm pretty sure Kyle did drive the 45 in the cup series in 2000.

 

That was pretty sad. I still have a T-shirt with Lee, Richard, Kyle and Adam on it.

 

Martinsville it looks like was the only race Kyle did in the 45 in cup

Well, as a little salute. I'll have to keep note of when New Hampshire is and make sure that avatar is up then. May try to make sure I run it at Texas, where Adam made his one cup series start.

I'm also running it for Daytona in honor of how well Petty ran there over the years... 7 Daytona 500s and I do'nt even know how many Firecracker 400s he won.
