Unless a newbie or less active member really stands out as someone special, or their Monte stands out as something special, they're not as likely to be nominated for MOTM as someone who is a regular on the forum.

More often than not, the people being nominated are visible regulars to the Monte community. It's not hard. All it really takes sometimes is to join in the conversations. The daily blog is just one way to get yourself out there and visible to the community. In general... members don't nominate someone who just lurks without being an active member of the community.

And in my 7+ years on this forum, I've seen a lot of people complain about not being nominated for MOTM. Many of them, never post a single nomination, or even vote in MOTM. We have hundreds of active members logging onto the forum everyday. And we average 45 votes in MOTM each month.

It's like the people who refuse to go vote in the presidential election, then complain about the guy who wins.

I'm tired of this argument constantly coming up. Just my opinion. No one else's.

 

Looks awesome Mel! And same here, mine has come a LOOOONG way in the past 4 years also since my first MOTM, and I am not done yet. I dont have alot of money, I do a little at a time and a lot has to do with improvising and creativity and originality, also doing things in a tasteful way. It is nice to know when hard work and putting your heart into your car is acknowledged and appreciated. I have learned a lot from being a member of this forum and hopefully have helped/inspired others with some things also. There were a couple periods of time when I was not here much at all because life happens but I always came back.

I do have a couple suggestions. Maybe write out Monte of the Month in the thread title instead of MOTM and when it is time to nominate or vote, keep those threads pinned/stickied to the top of the main thread page.

Basically, add your input to the MOTM, help others when you can, even start a thread about your car with pictures, history of it, etc. All Monte Carlos are winners in my book anyway.
